Kia Ora Week 2!

We bid farewell to Arataki Community School on Friday and said Hello to the Mount Maunganui Primary School today! To say my upoko (my head) is full of learning is an understatement! I am running out of space and writing as fast as I can to make room for more learning. Today was no different- a day spent learning a whole new school culture, a whole new staff and another group of beautiful students.

We spent the morning learning the behind the scenes of learning at Mount Primary, spending time with Damien (Principal) as well as Hadleigh (Deputy Principal). We went through curriculum, which we have decided we would like to adopt, and then explored the technology side of assessment as well as record keeping. Our brains were DEFINITELY stretched this morning!

After lunch, we each spent time in a classroom learning alongside the students. It was refreshing to have the students asking so many questions and telling stories. It never ceases to amaze me the sponges that kids are- especially with new topics! The quote was posted in the classroom I was in and it is SO true to what we are doing here and what students are doing every day. Its what teachers should be encouraging and goes alongside a core set of values.

It was a rainy Leap day here in NZ- no complaints though because sometimes we need a reason to stay inside and grow. I will leave you with a few "stormy" beach pictures.
